This was contained in a statement sent to the Press on Saturday, January 13, by the command's spokesman, SP Chike Oti.

The names and service numbers of the dismissed policemen are given as follows:
1. Sergeant Osaseri Saturday (25759)
2. Sergeant Segun Okun (359075) and
3. Corporal Adekunle Oluwarotimi (496833)
The statement said they have been tried and dismissed from the NPF for breaching the rules of engagement and reckless application of firearms.
They were said to have committed the offence on Thursday, January 11 at Ifelodun street, Amukoko, Lagos state when they responded with bullets fired from their weapons at some youths alleged to have hurled some non ballistic missiles at them.
The gunshots was said to have led to the death of one of the youths and injured another..

“The guilty verdict was passed on them by the adjudicating officer who considered that the officers did not appreciate the situation critically and ought not to have applied the maximum force on the unruly youths,”
the statement said.
The statement said the officers will be charged to court next week, while a duplicate copy of their case file would be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution( DPP) for legal advice.

Fulani Herdsmen Give Conditions to Stop Killings

A Fulani socio-cultural organisation, the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN) has said that the conflicts between farmers and herders in Benue State and other states is the Fulani way of fighting back over prolonged neglect and injustice.

It said the country had relegated the Fulani herdsmen to the background and were never allowed to exercise any right in the country like other citizens.
He called for the abrogation of the Anti-Open grazing Bill.
National Secretary General of GAFDAN Alhaji Saleh Bayeri told our reporter in Jos, the Plateau State capital, yesterday: “There has been so much hatred against the Fulani by other Nigerians over the years and successive governments never cared to see to the challenges facing the Fulanis in this country,
we have been pushed to the wall and the only option we have is to fight back, especially as states are beginning to enact laws to further strangulate the only means of livelihood of the Fulani herdsmen in the country”
Bayeri added:

“The reason for the problem is obvious. The Fulani in this country are facing the toughest challenge of their lives, a kind of challenge that makes you to choose between life and death; they are facing serious economic depression.
“Historically, the herdsmen and their business have been neglected o by the people and government of Nigeria. It is therefore natural that for people that feel oppressed to want to fight back or resist oppression. As far back as I can remember, from 1970 till date, there has been no single government policy geared towards assisting herdsmen in any way.
“Naturally, the government should know that the Fulani that keep multiplying in human population and their animal, should know that they need a space to occupy and carry out their legitimate business. The Fulani are not being allowed any space in Nigeria and government does not seem to care, so they have to fight back.
He added: “There was the issue of grazing reserve, about 413 grazing reserves in gazette. Out of that number, you can’t count up to 20 that are functional. But farmers enjoy and keep enjoying all sorts of assistance from the federal government through the same ministry for agriculture. Government does not really care when it comes to the issue of herders.”
On the Benue killings, he said: “We expected the federal government to move in and stop the enforcement on this anti-open grazing law in Benue State, but since government does not care on any issue affecting the Fulani man, the governor was allowed to enforce the law and we can now see the consequences
“From the last check, it was reported that over 70 people have been killed in Benue State in attempt to enforce an unjust law of anti-open grazing. People should ask the governor, is the enforcement of any law worth the lives of over 70 of his people. Has that law succeeded?”
His suggested solution is that “the Benue State governor should withdrew the anti-open grazing law he enacted last year, let him look at Benue State as home for all irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation.

The governor should be reminded that he swore to protect and defend the lives of all citizens of Benue State not minding their tribe, religion or political background.

Cristiano Ronaldo prepares Real Madrid exit: Agent Jorge Mendes has PSG talks underway

CRISTIANO RONALDO’s agent Jorge Mendes is in talks with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a transfer for the Real Madrid star, according to reports in Spain.

Cristiano Ronaldo is having an off season at Real Madrid by his high standards and has scored just four La Liga goals this term.
The 32-year-old is said to be unsettled at the Bernabeu and is unhappy with Real’s reluctance to offer him an improved deal.
The Portugal international is said to be demanding better terms that would see him equal Neymar’s earnings - should the Brazilian arrive in the summer.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Ronaldo has set the wheels in motion for a move to Paris Saint-Germain in case Neymar does come to the Bernabeu and steals his thunder.

The report says the former Manchester United man has been in secret contact with PSG for weeks regarding a move.
And Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is said to have begun talks with the Ligue 1 giants which are progressing quickly.
PSG are reportedly not keen to lose Neymar after just one season, however, if he does attempt to force through a move, Ronaldo would be a viable replacement.

Don Balon claim no decisions will be made over the futures of either player until after the World Cup.

Ronaldo is under contract at the Bernabeu until 2021, having agreed a new deal in December 2016.
And Zinedine Zidane admitted last month he hopes the Portuguese will remain at the club for the remainder of his career, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.

"He's the club's history and I hope he's here until he retires doing what he does,” Zidane said.

"I see Cristiano here forever. There's always the same debate, if Cristiano is happy or not here.

“But everyone wants him at Real Madrid and we want that.”

Trump blasts African countries using vulgar language

- President Donald Trump has lashed out again at Haiti and other African countries

- He said Haitians and African immigrants are from ‘shithole’ countries
- He said that the US should not be allowing immigrants from the said countries

President Donald Trump on Thursday, January 11, referred to Haiti and African nations as "shithole countries" during a meeting with a group of senators at the White House, NBC News reports.

Trump reportedly asked the
lawmakers: "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?"

The remark, made during talks on an immigration deal, was allegedly in reference to people from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries.

“Why do we need more Haitians, take them out,” Trump reportedly said

Trump questioned why the United States would want people from nations such as Haiti while he was being briefed on changes to the visa lottery system.

According to an aide who spoke with NBC News, while discussing with the senators, Trump asked why America would immigrants from "all these shithole countries".
The president said that the US should have more people coming in from places like Norway.

Dailyinfox could gather that the White House issued a statement that did not deny the remarks.

The statement read: "Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people," White House Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah told NBC Thursday, as part of a lengthy statement that did not directly dispute the language reportedly used in the meeting.

"He will always reject temporary, weak and dangerous stopgap measures that threaten the lives of hardworking Americans, and undercut immigrants who seek a better life in the United States through a legal pathway."
Trump's comments have been condemned by Haiti Ambassador to the US, Paul G. Altidor
Altidor called Trump's comments “regrettable” and based on “clichés and stereotypes rather than actual fact.”

It’s not the first time reports have surfaced of Trump speaking unfavorably about immigrants, and Haitians and Nigerians in particular.

Earlier reports gathered in December  that Trump said Haitian immigrants "all have AIDS," during a summer 2017 meeting about immigration

Trump also targeted Nigerian immigrants during that meeting, complaining that once they came to the United States they would never "go back to their huts."
In another report, the White House, however, vigorously
denied the claims in the story at the time.

21 Amazing High-Fiber Foods You Need To Know

There has been a lot of talk in recent years about high-fiber foods, because benefits of this dietary component have only recently been realized. As it turns out, dietary fiber can be found in hundreds of sources and can positively affect your body in many different ways, making it one of the most important nutrients that you should consume on a daily basis.

What Is Fiber?

Fiber is a non-digestible carbohydrate substance found in food made from plants, and is often referred to as roughage. This type of food is resistant to digestive enzymes, and includes polysaccharides, lignin, oligosaccharides, resistant starch, inulin and other similar plant substances. Dietary fiber has an impact on the gastrointestinal tracts, and can also affect physiological functions in other parts of the body, such as cholesterol levels and insulin sensitivity. There are many different types of dietary fiber but it is mainly broken down into two categories – soluble fiber and insoluble fiber.

Difference Between Soluble And Insoluble Fiber

The fundamental difference between soluble and insoluble fiber is that soluble fiber dissolves in water, while insoluble fiber does not. This simple distinction gives them notably different properties when it comes to digestion and how they interact with the body.
  • Soluble Fiber – Since this type of fiber can dissolve in water, it actually ferments in the colon and functions as a prebiotic, improving the efficiency of digestion, boosting nutrient uptake and balancing the bacterial levels in the gut. The main effect of soluble fiber on digestion is that it increases the feeling of fullness and stimulates the release of leptin, the satiety hormone, which tells the body that it is full.
  • Insoluble Fiber – This type of fiber does not dissolve in water, so its function in the body is slightly utilitarian. As an inert substance in most cases (although some insoluble fibers can ferment), it works to bulk up stool and promote peristaltic motion in the colon. This helps to lubricate the intestinal tract and move food through the body, without compromising nutrient uptake. Insoluble fiber is often associated with relieving constipationand diarrhea, as it regulates bowel movements on both extremes.
Most plant foods contain both soluble and insoluble fiber, but they are categorized based on which type of fiber is predominantly present in that particular food. Clearly, fiber is a critical component of a balanced diet and a healthy digestive system, and fortunately, there are dozens of excellent sources of fiber that are easy to add to your diet!

Tips To Add More Fiber To Your Food

Many people’s diets don’t include enough fiber, which is why constipation and poor nutrient uptake are such common health problems. Fortunately, adding extra fiber to your diet is surprisingly easy, if you follow a few simple tricks to alter your daily intake and food habits.
  • Add Fruit – Fruit is an extremely easy addition to many meals and recipes, and the majority of fruit has an impressive amount of dietary fiber. Throw some strawberries onto your afternoon salad, mix a banana into your oatmeal, or simply snack on a bowl of chopped fruit at night, rather than turning to the ice cream or junk food.
  • Cereal for Breakfast – Rather than skipping breakfast or just having a cup of coffee and a jelly donut, try having some type of bran-based cereal every morning. This can often provide up to 1/3 of the fiber you require on a daily basis.
  • Trail Mix Snacks – When you are feeling the urge to snack in the afternoon, instead of a soda and a bag of chips, have a bag of trail mix on hand, which is usually packed with dried fruit, seeds and nuts, all of which can give you a major fiber boost right when you need it!
  • Bean Salads – Legumes can be boring as side dishes in meals but they add flavor and nutrient density to salads! Tossing a few beans onto a common garden salad will make the meal even more fiber-dense, and will keep you full for hours.
  • Whole-Wheat Everything – If you can switch from white flour ingredients to a whole-wheat base, your fiber intake will rise significantly. Whether it is bread, pasta, tortillas, burritos, couscous or pita, try a whole-wheat variety instead!
  • Eat the Skin – A lot of fiber in fruits and vegetables are present in the skin. Pears, apples and sweet potatoes, for example, have most of their dietary fiber in the skin, so stop peeling your food if you want a good dose of fiber!
  • Smoothies – A simple, sweet and delicious way to increase your fiber intake is to make a fruit or vegetable smoothie every morning. If you choose your ingredients carefully, you can get nearly an entire day’s worth of fiber in a single meal!

Benefits Of High-Fiber Foods

High-fiber foods are extremely important to your overall health, as they help to manage blood sugar, promote healthy digestion, increase nutrient uptake efficiency, aid in weight-loss efforts and protect cardiovascular health in multiple ways.
Heart Health – Dietary fiber has long been connected to heart health because it can help to balance cholesterol levels in the body. Furthermore, numerous research studies have found that a diet high in fiber-rich foods makes you far less likely to suffer from heart disease or stroke.
Digestion – As explained above, soluble fiber helps to make you feel full, while also helping to improve the bacterial balance in the gut. This can help to prevent overeating, which can lead to bloating, cramping, burping and excess flatulence. Insoluble fiber will help to bulk up the stool, leading to better peristaltic motion in the gut, speeding the digestive process, while also improving the colon and stomach’s ability to access and absorb nutrients.
Weight Loss – Since dietary fiber helps you feel full and stimulates the release of leptin, the satiety hormone, many people add fiber-rich foods to their weight-loss diet, as this can help drop their daily calorie intake, without compromising on their nutritional needs.
Diabetes – Dietary fiber has been directly linked to better diabetes management, as it can help regulate blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. This will not only lower your risk of developing diabetes but also lower fat deposition and prevent other risk factors for metabolic syndrome.

High-Fiber Foods For Weight Loss

If you’re trying to lose weight, high-fiber foods can help, particularly edamame, navy beans, pumpkin, figs, almonds, kiwi and black-eyed peas.
Edamame: These underdeveloped soybeans are a culinary treat and a cultural staple in certain parts of the world, but also deliver 9 grams of fiber in ahalf-cup serving, which is extremely dense and will quickly fill you up, without adding too many calories.
Pumpkin: A single cup of pumpkin contains 7 grams of fiber, which is roughly 1/4 of your daily recommended intake of fiber. This variety of squashalso has a number of unique antioxidants and nutrients required for a healthy metabolism, which can further stimulate calorie-burning and weight loss.
Almonds: In terms of eliminating hunger, almonds are a simple and delicious snack that provides 3.5 grams of fiber in a single ounce, which is basically a good-sized handful of nuts. This will also give you a magnesium boost, which can prevent fat-deposition in the body and instead convert fat into usable energy.
Navy Beans: With a very low calorie count and an impressive fiber level, navy beans are some of the best fiber-rich foods for weight loss, as they can quickly fill you up and prevent overeating.
Kiwi: Each of these fruits may only have 2 grams of fiber, but combined with the rich supply of other nutrients and minerals, these fiber-dense fruits can seriously boost metabolism and aid weight-loss efforts.
Black-Eyed Peas: Also known as cowpeas, a single cup of these cooked peas offers 11 grams of dietary fiber. These are known to stimulate digestion, which can help with weight loss if you’ve been backed up for some time.
Figs: These popular Middle Eastern fruits are available around the world, thanks to their 1.5 grams of fiber, in addition to potassium, vitamin C andcalcium, which are also considered as laxative fruits, as these can help with weight loss.

High-Fiber Foods That You Should Eat

If your diet is lacking in fiber, the best recommendations for high-fiber foods include split peas, bran flakes, peanuts, sesame seeds and bulgur.
Bran Flakes: Try a cereal composed primarily of bran flakes, mixed in with some probiotic-rich yogurt. A single cup of these bran flakes contains 7 grams of fiber, making it the ideal start to your day, digestively speaking.
Peanuts: With more dietary fiber than any other nut, peanuts boast 12 grams of fiber in each cup, so whether you grab a handful for a snack, make your own peanut butter at home, or sprinkle them over your salads or trail mixes, don’t skip these nutrient-dense nuts!
Split Peas: Surprisingly, split peas has more than 16 grams of fiber in a single cooked cup, which is an even better reason to make your own legendary split-pea soup. There is also ample  proteins and minerals in these peas, so they should definitely be in your diet.
Bulgur: This Mediterranean staple grain is extremely dense in fiber and is versatile if you have grown sick of eating brown rice or other whole grains. With over 8 grams of fiber in each cup, this is an exotic option to improve your digestive health.

Sesame Seeds: Most people think of sesame seeds as a topping but each tablespoon contains 1 gram of fiber, so adding these to your salads, soups, smoothies and trail mixes is an excellent idea.
